Trade priorities of the Greek Presidency to be presented by deputy Development & Competitiveness minister, Mitarachi, in Brussels (20-21.1.2014)

Deputy Minister for Development and Competitiveness, Notis Mitarachi, in his capacity as President of the Council of the European Union - Foreign Affairs (Trade), is visiting Brussels on Monday, 20 January and Tuesday, 21 January, to present the priorities of the Hellenic Presidency of the EU to the competent INTA Committee of the European Parliament and to meet with Commissioner for Trade, Karel De Gucht.

Presentation of Greek Presidency priorities in the Audiovisual field at the European Parliament CULT Committee (Brussels, 21 January 2014)

The Deputy minister attached to the Prime Minister & Government Spokesperson responsible for Audiovisual Affairs (TV, radio, internet), Simos Kedikoglou, will present tomorrow, Tuesday 21 January, at the CULT Committee of the European Parliament, the relevant priorities of the Greek Presidency of the EU Council.

The Greek Presidency will work on the following issues:

“Enhancing the European Disaster Response Capacity: Joint/Multi-National Modules” Workshop (Athens, 21-22.1.2014)

A European Union workshop entitled 'Enhancing the European Disaster Response Capacity: Joint/Multi-National Modules' is hosted by the Hellenic Presidency of the Council of the European Union on Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 January 2014, at Zappeion Megaron, in Athens. It is the first workshop taking place after the entry into force (as of 1.1.2014) of the new EU legislation on the European Civil Protection Mechanism.

The Greek Minister of Labour, Social Security and Welfare, Ioannis Vroutsis to deliver a speech on the Social Dimension of the EMU at an Interparliamentary Committee meeting in Brussels, on 22 January 2014, during the European Parliamentary Week on the European Semester Cycles 2013-2014.

17th Meeting of the EU-Russia PPC on Freedom, Security and Justice in Moscow

Progress in the implementation of the EU-Russia Roadmap for the Common Space of Freedom, Security and Justice, visa and migration issues, fight against terrorism and transnational crime, such as illicit drug-trafficking, corruption and trafficking of human beings, access to justice and judicial cooperation were among the issues discussed at the 17th Meeting of the EU-Russia Permanent Partnership Council on Freedom, Security and Justice, which was held in Moscow on 17 January.

Minister of Finance, Yannis Stournaras, at the European Parliamentary Week / ECON meeting in Brussels

Minister of Finance, Yannis Stournaras, will visit Brussels next week, in order to participate on Wednesday, 22 January, in the Interparliamentary Conference on Economic Governance of the European Union, which is co-organised and co-presided by the Hellenic Parliament and the European Parliament. The President of the ECOFIN will address the concluding plenary session and will exchange views with the members of the European and national parliaments (12:00 – 13:10).

Interparliamentary Conference on Economic Governance of the European Union

The European Parliamentary Week (EPW) is taking place on 20-22 January at the European Parliament premises in Brussels, bringing together parliamentarians from all over the European Union to discuss economic, budgetary and social matters. 
 
An Interparliamentary Conference on Economic Governance of the European Union, co-organised and co-presided by the European Parliament and the Hellenic Parliament, will take place in the frame of the European Parliamentary Week.
